About PawVerity
PawVerity is an independent editorial site that grades pet wellness products on evidence — not on marketing budgets. We started from a simple frustration: the pet wellness aisle is full of confident claims and thin labels, and the people who love their dogs deserve better than guesswork.
Who we are
PawVerity is written and maintained by a small editorial team of pet owners and researchers. We don't publish individual bylines or personal bios — our credibility comes from our method, not our résumés. What we do publish, on every page, is exactly how we reached our conclusions: the rubric is public, the checks are repeatable, and the reasoning is in the article.
One thing we don't do: invent expertise we don't have. That's why every supplement, food, and health-related article is reviewed by a licensed veterinarian before publication — for claim accuracy, compliant language, and the all-important "is this actually safe to suggest" check. Our reviews inform; your veterinarian decides.
The PawVerity rubric
Every product we cover is graded on four dimensions, scored as Strong, Moderate, or Limited — deliberately coarse, because false precision is its own kind of dishonesty:
- Ingredient / method disclosure. Are active ingredients named with amounts, or hidden behind "proprietary blends"? Are food recipes fully listed? Are test methods described honestly?
- Third-party quality markers. The NASC Quality Seal for supplements, AAFCO nutrient-profile formulation for food, accredited laboratories for DNA tests. Independent vouching beats self-certification.
- Veterinary involvement. Formulated with veterinarians or veterinary nutritionists, developed with veterinary researchers — or just "vet approved!" with no names attached.
- Honest marketing. Structure/function language ("supports joint mobility") versus disease claims ("cures arthritis"); screening framed as screening, never as diagnosis.
We don't run a laboratory and we don't claim to. Our assessments are editorial transparency evaluations — what the label, the brand's published materials, and third-party certifications actually support. We say what we checked and how, so you can check it too.
How we make money (and why it doesn't buy verdicts)
PawVerity earns commissions through affiliate links — if you buy through a link on our site, the company may pay us at no extra cost to you. That's disclosed conspicuously on every page that contains affiliate links, and in full on our affiliate disclosure page.
The firewall is simple and absolute: commissions never affect rubric scores, rankings, or verdicts. We review products from companies we have no relationship with (like Wisdom Panel) alongside partners, and we publish the cons list even when it costs us the click.
Our standing commitments
- No invented data. No fake test results, no fabricated prices, no made-up study citations. If we didn't verify it, we don't print it.
- No disease claims. We use structure/function language and hold the brands we cover to the same standard.
- No CBD content. We don't review or recommend pet CBD products, period.
- Always "talk to your vet." Every review carries it, because it's true: our content informs; it never replaces veterinary advice.
- Corrections welcome. If we get something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it visibly.
